Beauty Friday: L.A. Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss Review

I’m back on my regular Beauty Friday posts! Oh dear, things at work have been so busy at the start of the year – I really haven’t got any down time to do some serious blogging work. Even my weekends are so swamped with many family activities going on. Everything was fun, though. But also tiring.

And my brain is badly needing a break! I don’t know why or how, but EVERY DAMN TIME that I feel so stressed, I just go to the mall and look at the beauty section or spend some time in a makeup store.  I don’t necessarily need to buy anything, but somehow, just looking at pretty shades of eyeshadows or blush for a minute instantly relieves my headache.  Is that only me or every other woman in the world who loves makeup?

Anyway, for today, I was browsing the photos in my beauty folder and instantly realized that I still have a review to do of these liquid lipsticks from L. A. Girl. I know it’s been out for a while now, and I’ve had these two shades of Secret and Fleur for quite sometime.

I only have a few words for these though.  Let’s just say that I have a kind of “love-hate” relationship with them.  The shades are actually nice, I love the nude effect of Fleur on me, while I also like the dark contrast that Secret gives off.

But my only issue is the texture! I know it’s supposed to be matte and dry.  But on me, it’s just TOO dry.  And when it dries, it clings to the lips like glue, LITERALLY.  I know that it was supposed to do that so it would last longer on the lips, and surely, it does last for about 6-8 hours. You can see how it dries in the swatches.

I’m not sure if it’s just my lips or what.  But my lips get quite flaky after a day of wearing it, most especially if I wore the darker shade of Secret.  I tried prepping with a lipbalm before application, and it did help a bit.  But overall, I just find it uncomfortably dry to wear, without having a ton of balm worn under and over it.

What about you, have you tried these liquid lipsticks?
