Double Cleansing

More than makeup, I also love skincare.  More so now in my early 30s, so one of my first beauty posts in this blog will be about skincare.

I’m not sure if you’ve heard about it before, but there is such a thing as what is called “double cleansing”.  Apparently, it’s practiced by most Japanese and Korean women – which doesn’t come as a surprise considering how perfect their skin are.  The idea is to wash the face TWICE every time, making sure to rub the cleanser gently on every nook and corner of the face. It may seem drying for the face, so I just do it every night.

In my case, I started doing it since last year.  I used my usual Clean and Clear Foaming Facial Wash and started to notice that after washing my face, there are still some gunks left when I use toner.  So I began washing my face twice every night since I wear a lot of makeup during the day. And yes, I did notice some difference.  The cotton pad I use after toner is proof that my face is cleaner after doing the double cleansing method.

I know this method may not be for everyone, especially for those with very dry skin. But if ever you’d like to try it, here’s how I do it for reference:

  1. Wash your face with your favorite cleanser, making sure to reach every corner of the face. If your cleanser is supposed to be foamy yet it’s not, don’t worry. This is actually a sign that you need to wash again.
  2. Rinse well.
  3. Wash the face again very well. This time, your cleanser is sure to be foamy which is a good sign.
  4. Rinse well.
  5. Wipe your face with a cotton pad soaked with your usual toner. See and feel the difference.
  6. Lastly, put on a good moisturizer.

I also began to try other facial cleansers, like Cetaphil, Pond’s, and Dove’s Pink Beauty Bar.  And I recently discovered that Dove’s Pink Beauty Bar actually works for me, so after I finished my other cleansers, this is what I’ve been using most of the time.

I’m also trying out “double-cleansing” with this black soap with bleaching and collagen properties, which I got from my sister who’s a dermatologist.

And sometimes, on those days when I feel really oily, grimy, or dirty, I also incorporate some exfoliation products every other day to get rid of blackheads and the stubborn whiteheads. These are two products I swear by.

So, would you care to try “double cleansing”? I hope it works well for you, too.

Have a good day!
